FOCUS MYC for 2011 was so great!!
We had a lot of fun getting to know each other better and learnt a lot from the Bible.
The food was so delicious!! We are very thankful to Yoon Kyoung, Sumin and all the helpers for giving us such yummy treats!!

Sharing meal time together was a great way to learn more about each other and we were even joined meet some cute families!!

We also had some time to relax at the beach, catch up on sleep or join a cooking lesson. Each night we had an activities and there was even a prize up for grabs!!

We had a fantastic time and we hope you will join us next year!!
This years Mid Year Conference will be on the topic of:
THE GENUINE CHRISTIAN LIFE
From 1 Thessalonians
Throughout the weekend there will be Bible talks, seminars and Bible studies as well as some fun activities, great food and some free time to explore a beautiful part of Tasmania. Check out the flyer for the details:

We will have more information coming soon so watch this space!!
There are many students at FOCUS that help us to keep going week after week. We have people helping to do things like welcome, play music, serve food and set up. But recently FOCUS has been blessed with a different kind of helper...
Meet Jake (He's the one in the middle):

Jake is a very useful helper. He lifts heavy things, cooks, gives sermons and we even caught him on the drums after last Friday Night FOCUS!!
He's not helping because he has lot's of free time or had nothing better to do. Actually he is quite busy with his family, work and being an elder at Crossroads Presbyterian. He just wants to serve and make things easier for everyone, especially Luke. And we are very thankful to have him just in time to help out when Luke's life gets a little busier, once his wife Jan has their third boy in August!!
So if you love FOCUS, you should join us in thanking God for Jake :)
This year FOCUS had a great Easter weekend full of fun, friendship, adventure, chocolate and of course, Jesus!!
On Friday night we meet at Sandy Bay Baptist for a cup of tea and a snack while we waited to be taken to Crossroads Presbyterian Church in the city.
Once we arrived at Crossroads we had hot cross buns and met lots of lovely Australians. We then enjoyed a great service and had some yummy seafood around a fire outside.

On Saturday we went on a nature walk. We crossed over a creek, climbed some trees, found some hidden apple trees and then went and had a yummy lunch.

On Sunday afternoon we went to Crossroads again to hear Luke give a talk about resurrection. There were lots of cute babies to play with :)

Easter Weekend was heaps of fun!! It was a great time to meet new people and learn more about Jesus. Hope you can join us next year!!
Here is the plan so far:
OR

Good Friday

FOCUS hosted a Crazy Sports event as part of International Student Oweek.
We had heaps of student come along and learn some traditional Aussie sports like cricket and football. Afterwards we enjoy a BBQ :)
Here are some of the photos!!
What a wonderful year we had in 2010! Lots of new faces, friendships and a whole lot of fun!! But now it's time to start thinking about the year ahead... and what a fantastic year it will be!
There are some things that will be the same at FOCUS. We will still meet up to learn from the Bible, have fun social events to get to know each other better and of course we will still be trying our best to look after international students while they stay in Tassie :)
But...
There are some new and exciting things happening too!
One thing I'm super excited about is the fact that I now work full time for FOCUS!! No more missing out on awesome events because I have to work :) I'm also super excited about having another female staff member!! She is very lovely. Her name is Amy and you will learn all about her very soon!
I hope that you are as excited about this year as I am. I can feel it's going to be a good one!!
God bless,
